How do we emancipate our poor agriculturist in India
Our economy is agri based and 60% of our population live in Villages. Yet if you see the villagers and the farming community, they are still immersed with debts and find it hard to make a good living. The young ones in the village seek other vocation and want to be away from agriculture as there is simply no peace, leave alone making money out of farming.
Government has done quite a bit of its duty all these years in helping them in many ways. However it appears that these efforts do not seem to benifit the community at large and the Government's benovelance do not seem to reach the villagers at all. They are where they were years ago. If you attend the Collector's monthly meet of the farmers in any collectorate, you will find the agony of the farmers in making their ends meet. The vows vented by them will bring tears in one's eyes. Mind you I am talking of the average farmer in India and the r=few rich ones are not those referred in this note. They are more of opportunists that exist in any society, who take advantage of the poor's condition.
What can be done to alliviate this situation. If we are to make this country strong and a world power, agriculturist will have to improve their lot. How can we go about this? I solicit ideas in this blog. I have some ideas that I will share in these columns.
